| Minale Tattersfield Roadside Retail |
| Introduction
Petrol Station Design has been totally revamped and relaunched as Roadside Retail in order to capture the monumental changes within the industry over the last ten years, namely food overtaking fuel as the primary mission for customers and revenue generation for business owners in many markets. Further, petrol / diesel is no longer the sole fuel source on sale with bio fuels entering the market, electric hybrid cars common place and hydrogen around the corner. |
| Gallery
The Roadside Retail ‘Gallery’ is as far as we know the world’s largest and most comprehensive collection of petrol station images. The gallery contains all the major multi-national brands and a healthy collection of the larger national brands with a sprinkling of smaller brands and some independents from around the world too. A separate section exists for C-stores and Automotive. Inclusion within the Roadside Retail ‘Gallery’ does not necessarily mean that a particular image describes the latest design although where possible we have tried to indicate age. As a shared resource we rely on you in the industry to help build the archive further with your own images that you think other readers may find interesting. A large proportion of the ‘Gallery’ images have been sourced through Minale Tattersfield’s own library generated through live projects within the energy sector since 1987. We are happy to share these images and relinquish copyright on condition that further reproduction states ‘By kind permission of Minale Tattersfield’. Other images have been selected from various sources including oil company press pages and links to other photo libraries. We have not knowingly breached others copyright but in case we have let us know and we’ll remove the image or clearly credit the author. |
| Design Projects
‘Design Projects’ is a continually updated selection of projects that have recently been completed within the Roadside Retail sector. We do not discriminate between projects that feature wholesale change or just incremental change although to qualify there should be a significant customer facing aspect to the change. Projects that focus on upgrading tanks, pipes or POS equipment may appear in the ‘Engineer’ or ‘ECO’ section. Where projects have an ‘Engineer’ or ‘ECO’ component we may include the story in more than one section. |
Brand Manager ‘Brand manager’ is a continually updated section that voices views and observations of brand mangers across the industry past and present. Paddy Briggs, ex Shell brand manager kicks off the section with a series of pieces getting to the heart of the issues of the day. Feel free to challenge or validate Paddy’s or any other guest brand managers views using the blog facility. |
| Engineer
In the same way ‘Design Projects’ describes current customer facing activity within the Roadside Retail sector, Engineer describes the nuts and bolts projects that are equally vital to the effective functioning of any Roadside Retail activity. ‘Engineer’ includes content ranging from materials, signage, equipment, components, services, products, regulation or any other relevant issue you the reader would like to bring to the attention of others. |
| In Store
In many markets food has overtaken fuel as the primary revenue generator hence C-store topics certainly earn the write to have its own dedicated section within Roadside Retail. |
| Project manager
The section Project Manager is aimed primarily at those interested on the issues relating to effective implementation of a Roadside Retail design or engineering project. We encourage both in house project managers and outsourced contract management companies to contribute to this section. |
| ECO
The ‘ECO’ section of Roadside Retail deals with arguably the biggest change currently underway in all forms of retail and society at large, namely the ever expanding movement towards environmentally friendly activities. The ‘ECO’ section includes past, present and future, services, projects, products large or small, anything in fact that helps demystify this nascent side of the industry. In the same manner that retail lives within a complex web of interrelated issues, ‘ECO’ will look at a host of wider topics such as new fuels and the cars which can use them, energy efficient technologies, recycling and sourcing local produce. |
| Insights
The ‘Insights’ section of Roadside Retail intends to cover all pre / post design and implementation activity that seeks to define and generally shed light on the specific needs of the market place and the driver of all new activity, the consumer themselves. Linked content as well as unique pieces from a variety of industry and Minale Tattersfield personnel will be included. |
| Cool ads
The Cool ads section is a scrapbook selection of ads relating to Roadside Retail activity which have caught our eye. Any other ad brought to our attention that makes us smile or otherwise induce a reaction other than stupor will be included. |
